WCO Ready to Support Further Development of Turkmenistan's Customs System

The World Customs Organization (WCO) is ready to offer necessary support and consultations for the continued development and enhancement of Turkmenistan's customs system, stated WTO Secretary-General Ian Saunders during a meeting with the Turkmen delegation led by Minister of Foreign Affairs Rashid Meredov in Brussels, Belgium, on Tuesday.

During the meeting, Meredov emphasized Turkmenistan's efforts towards integrating into international customs systems, including accession to key WCO conventions in recent years, as reported by the Turkmenistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Particular attention was given to the establishment of a regional WCO training center at the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan.

In turn, the WCO Secretary-General highly appreciated Turkmenistan's initiatives and achievements in the field of customs regulation.

From March 17th to 19th, 2024, the Turkmen delegation, led by Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov, conducted a working visit to Belgium.

As part of the working visit, Turkmenistan's Minister of Foreign Affairs Rashid Meredov held meetings with high representatives of the European Union in Brussels, Belgium, on Tuesday.
