Kazakhstan plans to create an alternative route to Afghanistan through Turkmenistan to increase trade turnover from $1 million to $3 million, Deputy Prime Minister Serik Zhumangarin said on Wednesday, Interfax-Kazakhstan reports.

Zhumangarin stated that the government aims to boost exports of wheat, flour, and flour products to Afghanistan, which currently amount to no less than 500,000 tons.

Deputy Prime Minister added that Kazakhstan's relations with Afghanistan are developing dynamically. To improve the current figures, Kazakhstan will host the first North-South trade and logistics forum next week in Aktau and has invited Afghan representatives.

Currently, the main route from Kazakhstan to Afghanistan runs through Uzbekistan.
