The roundtable “Transport Diplomacy: Turkmenistan and Romania – Connecting Asia and Europe” was held on September 18 at the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Romania.
The event was attended by Adrian George Foghis, State Secretary of Romania’s Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, and heads of diplomatic missions accredited in Romania.
During the meeting, Turkmenistan’s transit and transport potential, the country's developing multimodal transport infrastructure, and the international transport initiatives of the President of Turkmenistan were presented.
The discussion also highlighted global and international support, including from the UN, for Turkmenistan’s initiatives aimed at advancing the transport sector. Updates on the current status of the projects, future plans, and upcoming initiatives in the field were also covered.
Participants emphasized the importance of maintaining and developing intermodal and multimodal cross-border and transit transport services between Central Asia and the European Union. This is crucial for strengthening and expanding supply chain opportunities for Central Asian countries to the EU via the “Caspian Sea – Black Sea” international transport route, according to the Embassy’s press office.
