In 2024, Turkmenistan experienced a notable increase in exports, particularly in agricultural products, reflecting the country's commitment to business support and efficiency in customs operations, as reported by the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan on Monday.

Customs statistics reveal a significant rise in the export of greenhouse tomatoes, with total exports reaching 149,000 tons—an increase of nearly 43% compared to 2022. Exporters shipped the majority of these tomatoes to the Russian Federation (56%), followed by Kazakhstan (28%) and Kyrgyzstan (11%).

Last year, the export landscape focused on vegetables, melons, and fruit products. Since the beginning of the 2024, exporters sent approximately 13,000 tons of peas, 6,000 tons of onions, and 4,000 tons of fruits and grapes. Additionally, they shipped large quantities of confectionery, packaged vegetables, melons, fruits, and soft drinks to neighboring countries.

To support this growth, Turkmenistan has prioritized the automation of customs procedures and enhanced the efficiency of operations. The Single Window for Export-Import Operations mechanism, launched in 2024, allows exporters to access services electronically. This development streamlines customs processes and reduces time costs for businesses.
