Turkmenistan and Türkiye continue active cooperation in the energy sector, aiming to expand gas supplies to 1.3 billion cubic meters by the end of 2025. Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of the Republic of Türkiye, Alparslan Bayraktar stated this in an interview, as reported by official media of Turkmenistan.
The minister noted that discussions are underway to extend existing agreements and implement new energy projects. Additionally, Bayraktar emphasized that since Turkmenistan began supplying natural gas to Türkiye on March 1, 2025, it has met the needs of 1.5 million households.
Alparslan Bayraktar also highlighted that deliveries are carried out via the Caspian Sea, and this route will be further developed as part of the energy partnership. There are also prospects for building new power grids and transmission lines. A final meeting between the leaders of Turkmenistan and Türkiye is expected by the end of 2025, where both sides plan to sign new energy agreements.
Bayraktar stressed that Türkiye is interested not only in transiting Turkmen gas but also in further cooperation in oil and gas production. In particular, the Turkish Petroleum Company is working on the development of the Galkynysh field.
Energy negotiations are taking place within the framework of the Year of Peace and Security conference, organized under the auspices of the United Nations and dedicated to the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's neutrality. These events include a series of meetings addressing key issues in politics, economy, and regional cooperation.
