The Turkmen agricultural enterprise Ýigit, a member of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan, plans to expand its operations this year by cultivating sesame in the Kaka district, Rysgal newspaper reported on Monday.
The company will grow the oilseed crop on a 400-hectare plot of land allocated by the state, using modern agrotechnology suited to the region’s climate and soil conditions.
Sesame is primarily grown for its oil, valued for its rich flavor, while its byproduct—sesame cake—is widely used as a nutritious feed in livestock farming.
According to Ýigit’s General Director, Agamyrat Charyyev, the company’s specialists are closely studying the crop’s agrobiological characteristics and plan to provide thorough care based on both modern methods and traditional Turkmen agricultural practices.
Ýigit continues to focus on its core business of greenhouse tomato production. Products under its Mahmal brand are sold domestically and exported to neighboring countries as eco-friendly produce.
Turkmen agricultural producer Ýigit becomes first in Turkmenistan to receive global G.A.P. certification.
