Turkmenistan continues to actively modernize its Caspian maritime infrastructure, incorporating advanced international technologies. As part of this process, on October 14, Chargé d'Affaires of the Republic of Korea Kim Jun-chul visited a key industry facility—the Balkan Shipbuilding and Repair Yard.

The visit was devoted to monitoring the progress of a joint Turkmen-Korean project to build two multipurpose cargo vessels (MPCs) with a deadweight of 6,100 tons. The project is being implemented with the participation of the South Korean company "Koryo Shipbuilding Industry Technology Co., Ltd." (KSIT).

During a meeting with Guychmyrat Amanov, General Director of the Balkan Shipyard, the parties discussed prospects for further deepening bilateral partnership in the shipbuilding and ship repair industries.

The Korean diplomat's visit to the Turkmen shipyard confirmed Ashgabat's commitment to leveraging global expertise to develop its shipbuilding potential. Modernizing the maritime fleet and infrastructure is a strategic objective aimed at strengthening Turkmenistan's position as a key transit and logistics hub on the Caspian Sea.

Mr. Kim Jun-chul also expressed gratitude to KSIT employees for their professionalism and hard work at the Turkmen enterprise, emphasizing the success of their joint efforts.
