Turkmenistan opened its state border to allow the safe transit of foreign citizens leaving Iran. With coordination from Turkmen authorities, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, China and South Korea organized the evacuation of their citizens, the foreign ministries and media of the relevant countries reported Tuesday.
Since March 2, 2026, key crossing points on the Turkmen-Iran border have resumed operations, including Gaudan–Bajgiran, Artyk–Lutfabad, Akyaýla–Incheburun, Altyn Asyr–Incheburun and Sarakhs.
According to available data, 13 Uzbek citizens, 15 Kazakh citizens, 23 South Korean citizens, eight Russian citizens and 25 Chinese citizens have already been evacuated through these crossings.
Turkmen authorities are providing logistical and organizational support to ensure the safe and efficient transit of foreign citizens.
