Turkmenistan is prioritizing the development of international transport corridors along the East–West and North–South directions, Turkmenistan’s Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Nokerguly Atagulyyev said Thursday during the second meeting of heads of government and vice presidents of Turkic Council member states in Baku.
According to Atagulyyev, Turkmenistan consistently advances initiatives to revive the Silk Road in a modern format, viewing transport connectivity as a key factor for economic growth, according to Report.
He emphasized the important role of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Corridor, as well as routes connecting the Caspian Sea, the Caucasus, Central Asia and the Middle East, in expanding interregional trade and economic ties.
Developing these routes creates additional opportunities to increase trade volumes and strengthen cooperation across various economic sectors, the vice premier said.
At the conclusion of the second meeting, the heads of government and vice presidents issued a joint statement. The event was attended by leaders from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Northern Cyprus, the vice president of Türkiye, Turkmenistan’s deputy prime minister, and the Turkic Council secretary-general.
