A business mission bringing together private-sector representatives from Turkmenistan and the United Kingdom has officially launched at the headquarters of the West London Chamber of Commerce. The event, running from May 11–15, is aimed at strengthening trade and economic cooperation, establishing direct B2B contacts, and expanding export opportunities for Turkmen companies in the British and broader European markets, organizers said Monday.
The initiative is being carried out with the participation of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan, the West London Chamber of Commerce, and the private company TurkmenExpo, with support from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
The Turkmen delegation includes representatives of 20 national companies. On the British side, more than 40 organizations and enterprises are taking part, including major global names such as Range Rover, Primark, Shell, Score, APM Fresh, Fieldfisher, Make UK, and Berkeley Group, as well as Cambridge University, Brunel University London, the University of West London, Sanderson Design Group, and Smart Currency Exchange.

Alan Rides, director general of the West London Chamber of Commerce, formally opened the event, emphasizing the importance of strengthening business ties between the United Kingdom and Turkmenistan. He said British companies are showing strong interest in the Central Asian market. According to organizers, UK firms are also considering a potential visit to Turkmenistan later this year to deepen engagement with local business partners.
Mergen Gurdov, Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan, highlighted the role of international cooperation in supporting private-sector development and promoting Turkmen products abroad. Following the opening, participants held brief presentations on key areas of cooperation.
Special focus was placed on agriculture and agribusiness, textiles, education, tourism, and construction.
In the afternoon, participants conducted site visits. Throughout the week, the program includes B2B meetings, sector-specific discussions, and business visits aimed at building new partnerships and expanding commercial ties between Turkmenistan and the United Kingdom.
