Turkmenistan’s trade turnover with CIS countries reached $1.8 billion in January–March 2026, marking a 30% increase compared to the same period last year. The figures were announced on Friday by Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Hojamyrat Geldimyradov during an expanded-format meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of Government in Ashgabat, nCa reported.

According to the Vice Premier, CIS member states continue to be important trade and economic partners for Turkmenistan. By the end of 2025, mutual trade turnover between Turkmenistan and the Commonwealth countries exceeded $4 billion, up 7.2% year-on-year.

Geldimyradov noted that Turkmenistan is actively developing trade and economic ties with the Russian Federation, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Belarus.

During the meeting, the Turkmen side also outlined key areas of cooperation within the CIS framework. One of the priorities identified was the development of transport and logistics infrastructure. Particular importance is attached to the Turkmenbashi International Seaport, the Kazakhstan–Turkmenistan–Iran railway route and multimodal transportation.

Digital transformation and industrial cooperation were also highlighted among the promising areas of partnership. Turkmenistan supports the introduction of IT solutions in transport, logistics and trade, the development of electronic document management systems, as well as joint training programs for engineering and IT specialists.

Energy, the chemical industry, mining and metallurgy, the textile sector and the production of construction materials were named among the promising industries for joint projects.
