Turkmenistan highlighted the importance of cultural cooperation during a meeting of culture ministers from Central Asian countries and the United States in the C5+1 format, held on June 5, 2026, in Tashkent, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
The event took place at the JW Marriott hotel and followed agreements reached at the C5+1 summit in Washington in November 2025, which resulted in a joint statement of intent on the preservation of cultural heritage.
During the meeting, participants discussed practical ways to expand cooperation in the protection, study, and promotion of cultural heritage. Special attention was given to joint projects between museums, research centers, and relevant institutions, as well as to the expansion of professional exchanges among experts.

Particular focus was placed on the introduction of modern technologies in the cultural sector, including the digitization of cultural heritage sites and innovative approaches to their research, documentation, and preservation.
Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Minister of Culture of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Muradaliyev emphasized that cultural cooperation is an important factor in strengthening mutual trust and fostering constructive dialogue between Central Asian countries and the United States.
He also highlighted Turkmenistan’s experience in the restoration and preservation of cultural heritage monuments, as well as the implementation of joint projects supported by the U.S. Ambassador’s Fund for Cultural Preservation.
Participants expressed confidence that further development of cultural dialogue within the C5+1 format will contribute to strengthening humanitarian ties, expanding professional cooperation, and deepening mutual understanding among peoples.
