Turkmen Farmers Determined to Harvest 1.6 Million Tons of Wheat
Turkmen grain farmers aim collect 1 million 600 thousand tons of grain from 760 thousand hectares in 2019.

Wheat harvest has kicked off in Turkmenistan. Grain farmers of Akhal, Lebap and Mary velayats (provinces) started the reaping on June 5, and the farmers of the Balkan and Dashoguz velayats is expected to join the harvesting on June 12.

Turkmen grain farmers aim collect 1 million 600 thousand tons of grain from 760 thousand hectares in 2019, including in Akhal velayat - 450, in Mary – 380, Lebap – 350, Dashoguz – 300 and Balkan – 120 thousand tons. The main part of the agricultural land was planted high-yielding varieties of wheat, such as "Sahrai", "Juvan", "Bitarap", "Yoloten-1", "Yoloten-3", "Turkmenbashi-1" and "Gyzylshaglavuk-25", "Miras", "Akbash", "Hasylly" ("Batko") and "Vatan" ("Vassa").

During the harvest, hundreds of mobile mechanical repair crews will serve grain farmers 24-hour, supplying them with fuel and lubricants, and spare parts for equipment. Delivery of wheat to harvest points, as well as to barns and elevators will be provided by more than ten thousand trucks coordinated by relevant ministries and departments.

Timely payment with grain farmers for the delivered harvest will be carried out through the local branches of the State Commercial Bank "Daýhanbank".

The new state purchase prices for wheat were introduced in 2019. Compared to last year, the payment to the farmers for one ton of food grain has increased by two times.
