Turkmen President Meets With Singaporean Business Circles

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, who arrived on a state visit to the Republic of Singapore on Monday, met with representatives of the country's businesses on Tuesday. The business meeting, held in the form of a working breakfast, was attended by the leaders of leading Singaporean companies.

“We heard a lot about the ‘Singaporean economic miracle’, which in a short time turned Singapore into one of the most developed countries in the world,” the Turkmen President said, emphasizing that one of the main goals of the current - first state visit to Singapore is to establish and develop mutually beneficial ties in trade and economy.

President Berdimuhamedov said Turkmenistan considers the Republic of Singapore as one of its promising trade and economic partners.

As of July 1 this year, six investment projects with the participation of Singaporean companies and five enterprises with the participation of Singaporean capital have been registered in Turkmenistan.

During the meeting held at the Shangri-La Hotel, the participants exchanged views on the prospects for cooperation in the oil and gas industry, chemical industry, finance, transport, agriculture and water management and other equally important areas of joint interest.

Representatives of Singaporean companies, among which are world leaders in the production of high-tech products, presented their proposals for cooperation, giving it a long-term nature.

Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov will receive a ceremonial welcome at the Istana on Tuesday and pay a courtesy call on President Halimah Yacob, who will host a state banquet in his honour.
