Lebap cement plant commissioned the test production of cement grades M-400 D-20 and M-500 D-20.
Manufacturers of the enterprise and the scientists of the Laboratory of Chemistry and Technology of Organic Raw Materials of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan’s (AST) Institute of Chemistry jointly developed these construction materials.
These are modified cement binders with ground basalt dust additives (made from local raw materials), which has a positive effect on the mechanical and physical properties of concrete as it increases its strength, density, frost resistance, and reduces cost.
The use of minerals in concrete mix also minimizes the harmful effects on the environment.
In the near future, all cement plants of Turkmenistan will begin to produce the new grades of cement. New products make it possible to develop mortars and concrete with various physical, mechanical and chemical properties.
Depending on the needs of the customers, the enterprises that meet the international standards of technical equipment and product quality can also produce other grades of cement.
Currently, the most popular grades produced here are M-400, M-500 and M-400 (sulfate-resistant) that are used in hydraulic structures. The Kelyata cement plant also established the production of portland cement PCT-1-100, which is widely used in the oil and gas industry.
Previously, iron ore for cement production was purchased abroad. Within the framework of the state import substitution program, scientists of the AST Institute of Chemistry, together with specialists of the Turkmensenagat Agency and the Turkmengeologiya State Corporation, studied the possibility of using the natural resources of the Tuarkyr mining region and facilitated the extraction of iron-containing raw materials at the Chagyl deposit.
Local raw materials, iron oxide, completely replaced the imported analogue. By doing so, several million US dollars were saved. The products of the Turkmenistan’s construction industry are in high demand abroad. This year alone, Lebap plant exported about 160 thousand tons of high-quality cement to Uzbekistan and Afghanistan.
