The Mejlis of Turkmenistan awarded the President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov with the title of “Hormatly il ýaşulusy” (Honorary elder of the people).
The speaker of the national Parliament Gulshat Mammedova read the corresponding resolution of the parliament during the meeting of the Halk Maslahaty (People's Council), which was held in Ashgabat on September 25.
The Head of State stressed that the title of “Hormatly il ýaşulusy” imposes even greater responsibility on him. The Turkmen leader also noted that he would continue to spare no effort, knowledge and experience in the name of prosperity of the Fatherland, ensuring a peaceful and happy life of Turkmen citizens.
During the Halk Maslahaty, the Turkmen Leader honored fellow countrymen with state awards and honorary titles for their many years of diligent and dedicated work.
The President awarded the highest degree of distinction – the title of Hero of Turkmenistan with the award of the Altyn Ay Medal to Permanent Representative of Turkmenistan to the United Nations Aksoltan Toreyevna Atayeva and Russian cosmonaut, a native of Turkmenistan, Oleg Kononenko. He signed the corresponding decree at a session of the Halk Maslahaty.
The President of Turkmenistan also signed the decrees awarding the titles “Hormatly il ýaşulusy” and medals “Zenan Kalby” (Women's Heart).
