Italian oil giant Eni could expand its business in Turkmenistan, the company’s Vice President for Central Asia Luca Vignati said at the Turkmen-Italian business forum in Milan on Wednesday.
Vignati noted that, in addition to the oil and gas industry, the company can work in the field of improving renewable energy sources.
The company makes large investments in technology and know-how, the Vice President noted. “A number of them were first used in Turkmenistan, and then began to be used in other countries and regions of the world,” said Luca Vignati.
He also noted that Eni, which operates in 63 countries of the world, gives priority to technologies that ensure environmental safety of production, which in Turkmenistan has special requirements. He then underlined that over the past three years, they have been able to achieve these safety standards.
Foreign companies are currently implementing four projects in the Turkmen sector of the Caspian Sea and three such projects on land on the basis of Production Sharing Agreements (PSAs) with Turkmen government.
Eni Turkmenistan Limited, a subsidiary of the Italian energy company Eni, has been operating on the Nebitdag contract area since 2008 under the PSA.
In his speech, Luca Vignati noted that for 11 years he has been successfully working in Turkmenistan. He added that the Italian company produces over two thousand tons of oil per day in Turkmenistan.
