Russia Considers Increasing University Quotas for Turkmen Students
The head of the Rossotrudnichestvo Eleanor Mitrofanova is on a visit to Turkmenistan.

Russia might increase the quotas in universities for students from Turkmenistan in coming years, the head of the Federal Agency for the Commonwealth of Independent States, Compatriots Living Abroad and International Humanitarian Cooperation (Rossotrudnichestvo) Eleonora Mitrofanova said during a visit to Turkmenistan.

“Next year, 202 places for citizens of Turkmenistan who have graduated from Turkmen schools will be provided in higher educational institutions of Russia,” Mitrofanova said during a visit to the Turkmen-Russian secondary school named after Alexander Pushkin. “Today we will hold talks on this topic at the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan. If there is a need, we will expand the quota.”

The Director of the Turkmen-Russian school Yelena Systsova, said that annually about 3.5 thousand applicants take part in exams at the school to enter the universities of the Russian Federation.

Turkmenistan and Rossotrudnichestvo will exchange experience

Rossotrudnichestvo Agency and Turkmenistan will share experience in the application of innovative technologies and digital transformation of the economy. A delegation led by the head of the Rossotrudnichestvo agency Eleanor Mitrofanova discussed the opportunities in this area on Tuesday meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov.

During the meeting the Turkmen Foreign Ministry, the parties paid special attention to the collaboration in the area of science, education, culture and art.

The sides stated the vital role of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Russian Commission on Economic Cooperation in the process of promoting the mutually beneficial bilateral ties. They also discussed the subject of arranging a number of programs and projects with the involvement of Rossotrudnichestvo in the area of scientific researches, enhancement of the qualifications of the specialists, as well as the hosting of cultural events.

The head of the Rossotrudnichestvo then held a meeting with the Minister of Culture of Turkmenistan Atageldi Shamyradov.
