The law defines the legal basis for licensing certain types of activities.

Turkmen parliamentarians discussed the Draft of New Edition of the Law of Turkmenistan on Licensing of Certain Activities at the eighth session of the Mejlis (Parliament) of the sixth convocation on Saturday.

The deputies of the Mejlis noted that systematic measures for modernization and diversification of national economy on innovative base are underway in the country.

The parliamentarians said that services in education, pharmacology and medicine, construction, oil and gas works, energy, chemical industry, communication, transportation, seed production, pedigree livestock farming, use of natural resources and natural protection have to match national and international standards.

The officials emphasized that the increase in the types of services is the base for development of the Draft Law on Licensing of Certain Activities. They highlighted that provision of safety of production, works and services for life and health of people, protection of citizens’ property and environment, protection of interests of individuals and legal entities in compliance with requirements of regulatory documents on quality of production, works and services are the main goals of this document.

A license is issued separately for each licensed activity. The type of activity for which a license is obtained can only be performed by the person who received the license.

The license covers the entire territory of Turkmenistan, with the exception of restrictions established by the legislation of Turkmenistan.

Turkmenistan adopted the Law On Licensing of Certain Types of Activities on June 25, 2008.
