Çeper carpet factory, located in Lebap velayat’s Halach etrap in the northeastern Turkmenistan, produced 845 square meters of carpets and various carpet products last month. The monetary value of the products amounted to 1.44 million manats.
The factory employs over 2 thousand carpet weavers, who weaved last year 9.4 thousand square meters of carpets worth about 14.69 million manats.
The carpet weavers of the enterprise contribute to the development of the Turkmen national carpet weaving art, which was included on the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage List last December.
They weave carpets with Beshir and Derweze ornaments, as well as round, octagonal, nature themed and double-sided carpets, and souvenir rugs.
The factory also produces 70 to 180 square meter custom-made carpets. The factory, which was established in 1986, produced a huge carpet of 215 square meters last year.
The carpets produced at the enterprise are exported to foreign countries through state trading institutions.
