Geneva Hosts Round Table on Transport Potential of Caspian Region
The round table on the theme “Transport and connectivity potential of the Caspian Sea region: Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan - the shortest route” took place at the UN Office in Geneva, Switzerland.

At the initiative of the Permanent Mission of Turkmenistan to the UN Geneva Office, the round table on the theme “Transport and connectivity potential of the Caspian Sea region: Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan - the shortest route” took place at the UN Office in Geneva, Switzerland on Wednesday.

The meeting was organized together with the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) and the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the UN Geneva Office and was held in the framework of the 82nd session of the Inland Transport Committee (ITC) of the UNECE.

The event aimed to present Turkmenistan’s transport capabilities, infrastructure policies in the context of development of international cooperation between the countries, a vision on further prospects of transport routes and views on the main aspects raised in UNGA resolution on “Strengthening the links between all modes of transport to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals”.

During the meeting, the Turkmen side announced the celebration of the 25th anniversary of permanent neutrality of Turkmenistan this year and emphasized the special importance of Turkmenistan’s neutrality status, which is recognized at the regional and global levels and is a solid foundation of the foreign policy.

At the end of the round table, the Permanent Mission of Turkmenistan organized a photo exhibition presenting the country's achievements in the field of railway, road, air and sea communications over its 25 years of permanent neutrality status.
