During the official visit of President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to Azerbaijan on Wednesday, an expanded meeting of Turkmen and Azerbaijani delegations took place.
During the meeting, the Heads of State exchanged views on bilateral cooperation in political, trade and economic, transport and cultural, and humanitarian spheres, as well as discussed cooperation in the Caspian Sea.
President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov underlined the potential for further development of trade and economic ties and noted the presence of a colossal industrial and agricultural base, modern transport infrastructure in both countries. Turkmen Leader said these factors should be used to expand mutual trade and attract investments, adding that large-scale projects in the fields of industry and service, and the agricultural sector must be implemented.
The Turkmen President highlighted the relations between representatives of the private sector of the two states. Berdimuhamedov said the Turkmen businesspeople carried out large-scale projects in construction, trade, service, and the tourism industry, adding that Turkmenistan would welcome the active participation of Azerbaijani companies in the implementation of such projects.
The Turkmen Leader proposed the establishment of a Trading Houses in the capitals of both countries and creation of a joint Business Council in order to further build up bilateral trade and economic ties.
The President of Turkmenistan also touched upon topics on cooperation within the framework of international organizations, and dialogue in the cultural, humanitarian and transport-transit spheres.
