The Center for Global and Strategic Studies (CGSS), Islamabad organized the interactive session titled “TAPI–the project for peace and prosperity” in the capital of Pakistan on Wednesday, the Pakistani think tank said in a Wednesday press release.
Muhammetmyrat Amanov, CEO and Chairman of the Board of TAPI Pipeline Company Limited (TPCL), was the chief guest of the session attended by 35 delegates from various ministries, think tanks, experts of economy, trade, energy and senior advisory board members of the CGSS.
The President of the CGSS, Islamabad Major General (Retd) Syed Khalid Amir Jaffery commenced the session on Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline project by stating that TAPI project is a "game changer for this region".
During the session, Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Pakistan Atajan Movlyamov noted that Turkmenistan holds fourth richest gas reserves which can be shared with regional countries for enhanced cooperation and called the TAPI project a win-win project for all the countries.
The Ambassador said the agreements related to the TAPI project have already been signed and are now in the phase of practical implementation.
Muhammetmyrat Amanov said the TAPI project is a beacon for peace and stability through which clean source of energy will be provided and is strategically important for the region as it will bring many direct and indirect social, economic, political and environmental benefits to the region.
The TPCL CEO said the project will be the only source of pipeline gas for Afghanistan, Pakistan and India, adding that without the pipeline, these countries are dependent on coal, oil and expensive LNG.
After completion, the 1840-kilometer TAPI gas pipeline will be able to annually deliver 33 billion cubic meters of Turkmen natural gas to South Asian countries.
