Turkmen Authorities Consider Simplification of Customs Procedures
The meeting participants considered requirements to join the Revised Kyoto Convention.

Representatives of the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the World Customs Organization (WCO) discussed promising areas of cooperation during an online meeting on Thursday.

The parties discussed the issue on accession of Turkmenistan to the International Convention on the simplification and harmonization of Customs procedures (as amended), known as the Revised Kyoto Convention (RKC). In particular, the sides considered requirements to join the convention.

The Turkmen side expressed interest in studying and mastering the best practices of the WCO to improve the organization of customs control at the state border, and developing cooperation with the Organization’s structural divisions.

The sides noted the importance of continuing efforts to intensify cooperation in such areas as strengthening of national and international legal systems related to customs work, analysis of existing legislative documents and development of the new ones in this direction.

Revised Kyoto Convention is one of the most significant international legal documents in the customs field and involves the creation of common principles of customs policy.
