Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan hosted a video conference meeting with the Secretary General of the Energy Charter Secretariat, Urban Rusnak, on Tuesday.
The meeting participants exchanged views on issues of international cooperation in the energy sector, modernization of the Energy Charter Treaty. The sides also discussed the impact of the global agenda on world energy markets and future cooperation plans within authoritative organizations.
During the meeting, the parties prioritized the international legal regulation of energy transit, which is one of the primary tasks of the Energy Charter as it unites dozens of countries in Europe and Asia in this direction.
One of the key aspects of Turkmenistan’s energy strategy is the diversification and expansion of its natural gas exports. In this direction, Turkmenistan carries out major projects in the field of creating a multi-directional gas transmission system.
In this regard, Turkmenistan supports the activities of the Energy Charter Secretariat to integrate regional energy markets in order to achieve long-term stability and sustainability in the energy sector, to ensure wide consumer access to economically viable, environmentally friendly energy resources through the creation of an appropriate infrastructure.
Urban Rusnak highly appreciating the contribution of Turkmenistan to the development of the international energy dialogue and emphasized that the active participation of Turkmenistan in the work of the Energy Charter helps strengthen the country's position on the Eurasian energy platform, where there is great potential for cooperation.
Adviser to the President of Turkmenistan on Oil and Gas Issues, heads and specialists of several ministries and departments, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Finance and Economy, Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Energy, and the Türkmengaz (Turkmen Oil) and Türkmennebit (Turkmen Oil) State Concerns attended the session.
