Turkmenistan to Provide Entire Rural Population With Broadband Internet
Turkmen President emphasized the need to provide the entire rural population of the country with broadband Internet by the end of this year.

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov held a video conference meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers on Friday.

The meeting participants considered the Presidential Development Programs of Turkmenistan and the implementation of socio-economic programs, and discussed other issues of domestic policy aimed at ensuring the well-being of the Turkmen people.

The Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Minister Bayramgeldy Ovezov, overseeing the transport and communications spheres, briefed the Head of State on activities in the sector.

Following the briefing of the Vice-Premier Bayramgeldi Ovezov, the Head of State instructed to strictly control the work of transport enterprises and agencies, and take appropriate measures taking into account the difficult global situation.

During the meeting, the Turkmen Leader emphasized the need to provide the entire rural population of the country with broadband Internet by the end of this year, adding that this would pave the way for online education, telemedicine, public services, and e-commerce.

Turkmen President also gave instructions on the active implementation of the State Program on Digitalization of the national economy and on increasing the level of digital literacy of the population.
