Disinfection Tunnels in Turkmen-Iranian Border to Commission Within Two Weeks
The officials discussed transport and transit cooperation between Iran, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan.

A trilateral video conference meeting between the heads of the transport ministries and departments of Turkmenistan, the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Islamic Republic of Iran over transport and transit cooperation between the countries took place on Tuesday.

The Turkmen delegation was headed by the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, in charge of the transport sector, Bayramgeldi Ovezov. The Uzbek side was chaired by the Minister of Transport Elyar Ganiyev. The Iranian delegation was led by the Minister of Road and Urban Development Mohammad Eslami.

During the meeting, Turkmen Deputy Chairman said several measures have been taken to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in Turkmenistan borders like establishing disinfection tunnels, according to the Iran Press News Agency.

Iranian Minister Eslami said health protocols have been implemented in 24 border terminals due to the coronavirus outbreak, adding that according to agreements between Iran and Turkmenistan disinfection tunnels will be installed in borders over the next two weeks.

All merchants and businesspersons are obliged to implement the health protocols, Eslami noted.

Uzbekistan’s Minister of Transport Elyar Ganiyev for his part stressed that all drivers are obliged to wear gowns and go through health protocols and that they should deliver the cargo to its destination within 10 days.

Based on an agreement between the three countries, the necessary transportation documents will be exchanged through electronic means.
