Russia’s President Vladimir Putin, opening a meeting with the state officials on Tuesday, reported of the registration in Russia of the first vaccine worldwide against the coronavirus infection, a TASS news agency reports.

The Russian President noted that the country’s COVID-19 vaccine trials yielded positive results and that it forms stable cell and antibody immunity.

"The mass production of the coronavirus vaccine registered in Russia should be started in the near future," Putin stressed, adding that the vaccination will be voluntary.

Earlier the Russian Health Minister Mikhail Murashko stated that clinical trials of the vaccine developed by the Gamaleya National Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology of the Russian Healthcare Ministry were over.

Massive efforts are also underway in China and in many other countries to develop a vaccine strong enough to fight and eliminate the novel coronavirus.
