Leaders of Turkmenistan, Japan Discuss Bilateral Ties
State visit of President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to Japan on October 21-23, 2019

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on Thursday held a telephone conversation with Prime Minister of Japan Shinzo Abe, the State News Agency of Turkmenistan (TDH) reports.

During the conversation, the parties expressed satisfaction with the productive cooperation between Turkmenistan and Japan both in a bilateral format and in the international arena, as evidenced by mutual support for constructive initiatives and proposals put forward within the framework of authoritative global and regional organizations.

Focusing on the intensification of trade and economic relations, the sides emphasized that due to joint efforts interstate economic cooperation has acquired a strategic, sustainable and long-term character.

One of the examples of cooperation is the participation of Japanese companies in the implementation of projects on construction of modern oil and gas and chemical plants in Turkmenistan. According to President Berdimuhamedov, Turkmenistan will support the activities of Japanese companies in the country, as well as create favorable conditions for investment activity.

Expressing confidence that his successor as Prime Minister will continue to develop bilateral relations of friendship and cooperation in every possible way, Shinzo Abe once again thanked the Turkmen President for his attention to interstate cooperation and strengthening friendly contacts at the highest level.

Stressing the importance of humanitarian and cultural dialogue, the interlocutors spoke in favor of further expanding fruitful educational and scientific ties, including in the field of education and training of Turkmen specialists.
