President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on Thursday held a meeting with Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Askar Mamin, who arrived in Ashgabat on a working visit, the State News Agency of Turkmenistan (TDH) reports.
During the meeting, the Turkmen President and his guest highly assessed the level and dynamics of the development of interstate dialogue, and exchanged views on a wide range of cooperation, including within the framework of authoritative international organizations.
Thanking for the cordial welcome and emphasizing the importance that Kazakhstan attaches to strengthening ties with Turkmenistan, the guest conveyed warm greetings and good wishes from the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Kemeluly Tokayev.
The Turkmen Leader also conveyed his best wishes to President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and first President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev, and to the people of Kazakhstan.
The parties paid particular attention to the implementation of a number of interstate economic projects, and the prospects for building up partnerships in such strategic areas as trade, economy, transport and logistics, energy and agriculture.
The officials emphasized the importance of operating transnational North-South railway and Turkmenistan’s initiative to build a modern Turkmenbashi-Kazakhstan highway, which in the near future will contribute to the increase of trade, passenger and freight traffic between the countries.
Discussing the issues of cross-border cooperation, the meeting participants focused on the development of the transit potential of neighboring states and the implementation of energy projects actively promoted by Turkmenistan.
“Our countries have great opportunities for building up trade and economic relations”, said President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, underlining the role of the Intergovernmental Turkmenistan-Kazakhstan Commission on Economic, Scientific, Technical and Cultural Cooperation.
The sides expressed mutual interest in the implementation of new joint projects, including in the field of gas chemicals, the supply of Turkmen gas to the domestic market of Kazakhstan, the agro-industrial complex, and their readiness to build up constructive partnerships both in the bilateral format and within international organizations.
Congratulating President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on the Independence Day, which is celebrated this month, Askar Mamin expressed his belief that the constructivism of the foreign policy strategy of Turkmenistan, based on the principles of permanent neutrality, would continue to promote cooperation in a wide range of areas.
