Turkmenistan, Afghanistan Intensify Implementation of Joint Projects
The signed documents are aimed at promoting the further implementation of joint infrastructure projects between Turkmenistan and Afghanistan.

The delegation of Turkmenistan took part in the signing ceremony of the package of documents in the Afghanistan’s capital of Kabul on Wednesday, TDH news agency reports.

According to the report, the documents are aimed at promoting the further implementation of joint infrastructure projects between Turkmenistan and Afghanistan, particularly the construction of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline, Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan (TAP) power transmission lines and fiber-optic communication line, and railways.

The signed documents include the Memorandum of Understanding between the Türkmengaz State Concern, TAPI Pipeline Limited and Afgan Gaz Enterprise on the establishment and development of a natural gas market in Afghanistan; Memorandum of Cooperation in the fields of communications and IT between the Türkmenaragatnaşyk Agency and the Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies of Afghanistan; Agreement between the Türkmenaragatnaşyk Agency’s Türkmentelekom State Telecommunication Enterprise and the Afghan Wireless communications company on the connection of a fiber optic cable between Turkmenistan and Afghanistan on the state border - Serhetabat-Turgundi and Imamnazar-Akina for organizing international transit traffic; Agreement on the purchase of electricity in Afghanistan under the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan transmission line project.

It was especially noted that the signing of these documents is an important step towards further implementation of joint projects in Afghanistan.

President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, government officials, the heads and representatives of the relevant ministries and departments of Turkmenistan and Afghanistan, and international companies took part in the event.

Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov attended the online event.
