Turkmenistan, UNCTAD, UNDP Ink Document on Single Window System
The officials highly appraised the strategic partnership of Turkmenistan with the UN and its specialized agencies, in particular the UNCTAD and UNDP.

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov on Tuesday held online talks with the Secretary General of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) Mukis Kituyi and the Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations, Director of the UNDP Regional Bureau for Europe and the CIS Mirjana Spoljaric Egger.

According to the Turkmen Foreign Ministry’s press release, the meeting was also attended by the UNDP Resident Representative a.i in Turkmenistan Natia Natsvlishvili.

During the meeting, the parties highly appraised the strategic partnership of Turkmenistan with the UN and its specialized agencies, in particular the UNCTAD and UNDP. In this context, the officials highlighted the significance of efficient partnership in the last five years in the area of digital economy development and in the fields of sustainable transport and trade in Turkmenistan.

According to the statement, in collaboration with UNCTAD and in active participation of UNDP, the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan has started implementing the ASYCUDA World integrated information system. The system will serve as the main platform for a stage-by-stage and efficient implementation of the Single Window for Export-Import Operations system in the finance sector of Turkmenistan, particularly in the banking, transport and in other segments, including the Türkmenstandartlary (Turkmen standards) Main State Service.

Following the meeting, the parties signed a Memorandum of Understanding between the UNDP, the UNCTAD and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan on joint cooperation on assistance in implementation of the Single Window for Export-Import Operations in Turkmenistan.

The Memorandum will become the basis for the digitalization of trade and transport ties within the implementation of global and regional sustainable development strategies.
