During a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan on Thursday, Deputy Prime Minister Esenmyrat Orazgeldiyev reported to President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on the creation of a special agricultural land fund in the country's velayats for growing crops included in the state order.
According to TDH news agency’s report, proposals on the creation of the special land fund were prepared together with the hyakimliks (administrations) of the velayats.
The land plots from the fund will be provided to agricultural producers for up to 99 years. At the same time, 70% of the fund's land is proposed to be used on a contractual basis for growing wheat, cotton and other agricultural crops included in the state order. The remaining land can be planted with other crops for a science-based crop rotation, provided that the plan for the production of wheat and cotton is fully implemented.
Summing up the report, the Head of State instructed to keep under constant control the large-scale reforms carried out in agriculture sector.
The Turkmen President also gave the Deputy Prime Minister a number of specific instructions related to seasonal agricultural work, the introduction of advanced technologies and scientific achievements into practice, the improvement of land fertility and the rational use of water resources.
