French businesses during a webinar on Thursday, organized by the MEDEF International, the network of French businesses, and the diplomatic missions of Turkmenistan and France, expressed interest in participating in agricultural projects in Turkmenistan.
The Turkmen side included representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environmental Protection, the Ministry of Finance and Economy, representatives of the Central Bank and the State Bank for Foreign Economic Affairs, as well as Turkmen businesses, the country’s official media reports.
The French side included top managers of about 35 large French companies specializing in agricultural activities.
The Turkmen officials briefed about the transformations in the country’s agro-industrial complex, and acquainted the French side with the export and investment potential of Turkmenistan in the agricultural sector.
One of the main topics on the agenda of the webinar was cooperation in the development of greenhouses. The parties agreed to organize a special webinar on aspects of the development of greenhouse complexes. They also expressed interest in the participation of French companies in specialized shows and forums organized in Turkmenistan.
In February this year, the Chairman of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan (UIET) Dovran Hudayberdiyev and Managing Director of MEDEF International Philippe Gautier signed a Memorandum of Understanding between the UIET and the French organization.
MEDEF International is a non-profit private-funded organization, created in 1989 by MEDEF, the French Business Confederation. MEDEF International is the most representative organization of the French private sector at an international level.
