The farmers in Gurbansoltan eje etrap of Turkmenistan’s Dashoguz velayat have finished the spring planting of potatoes on 950 hectares of land. The etrap is the largest potato producer in the velayat.

In the velayat’s S.A. Niyazov etrap, the potatoes were planted on 450 hectares of land, the country’s official media reported on Saturday.

In general, 1900 hectares of land were allotted for the spring planting of potatoes in the Dashoguz velayat. The farmers managed to carry out the planting campaign in a shorter period compared to last year.

The planting of onions has also been completed in the velayat. The onions are grown in relatively large volumes in the two above-mentioned etraps and in the Gubadag etrap.

Farmers in the Dashoguz velayat mainly plant early and mid-season varieties of Dutch potatoes, which are unpretentious in care, are distinguished by high yields and are well adapted to local soil and climate conditions.
