Turkmenistan plans to produce 224,000 tons of sugar beet this year, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov signed a relevant Resolution on the crop production at a Cabinet of Ministers meeting on Friday.
According to the document, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environmental Protection, the hyakimliks (administrations) of Balkan and Mary velayats were instructed to ensure the proper production of sugar beet in the regions’ etraps, in accordance with agrotechnical requirements, the country’s official media reports.
During the meeting, the Deputy Chairman of Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Esenmyrat Orazgeldiyev reported on the measures to strengthen the country's food security.
Following the report, the Head of State stressed that providing the population with a variety of agricultural products is one of the key tasks of the country’s agro-industrial complex. The Turkmen President also instructed the Vice-Premier Orazgeldiyev to strictly adhere to the agrotechnical requirements during spring agricultural works, primarily in the care of wheat, sowing of cotton, and in preparation for the harvest of grain crops.
