Elin Balyk Economic Society has started the construction of a trout farm on a 10-hectare plot in Baherden etrap of Turkmenistan’s Ahal velayat, the country’s official media reported on Wednesday with reference to the speech of the Deputy Director of the company Vepa Halliyev at an international seminar held by a regional project for the development of fish farming and aquaculture.
The seminar is reportedly organized by the regional project Capacity Development for Sustainable Fisheries and Aquaculture Management in Central Asia, Azerbaijan and Turkey (FISHCap), which is implemented in Turkmenistan by the Sub-Regional Office of the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the Ministry of Agriculture and Environmental Protection.
The Turkmen side in the seminar included representatives of sectoral government institutions, private producers, specialists from the National Institute of Deserts, Flora and Fauna, and members of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan.
Fish farmers from Mongolia, participating in the online event as guests, shared with their experience of breeding various industrial fish species and with Mongolia’s entry into the active phase of organizing local aquaculture.
In his speech, the Deputy Director of Elin Balyk ES said the new farm is under construction taking into account some adjustments, namely with technologies for heating water in winter and cooling it in summer. The construction of an industrial workshop is expected to complete this year, after which the installation of special equipment will begin.
The participants exchanged views on increasing the sustainability of productivity and optimizing production. The seminar aimed to create a platform for the exchange of examples of best practices, business investment and exchange of experience.
