UIET Member Businesses Increase Fruit and Vegetable Production by 86.7%
The UIET members plan to harvest more than 150 thousand tons of different agricultural products, which were planted in spring season of 2021.

The members of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan (UIET) in January-May 2021 produced 86.7% more fruits and vegetables compared to the same period last year.

These products were grown and collected on the territory of privatized farmers' associations, the production efficiency of which has increased due to the use of modern technologies and a rational approach to water use, the UIET reported on Friday.

From the fields sown in spring season of 2021, the UIET members plan to harvest more than 150 thousand tons of different agricultural products, particularly 59,566 tons of such types of vegetables as potatoes, tomatoes, cucumbers, onions, bell peppers, cabbage, carrots and beets. The businesses also aim to produce 44,593 tons of berries and grapes.

The agricultural producers also plan to harvest 891.5 tons of mung bean and millet, planted in spring season, and 63,867 tons of cereals and legumes, including corn, soybeans and barley.

On Tuesday, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov signed a Resolution on state financial support for the private sector of the economy. The document includes provision of financial assistance to agricultural producers for the purchase of modern equipment, high-quality planting materials, and the construction of high-tech greenhouses.
