Top Turkmen Diplomat Attends Turkic Council Ministerial Meeting in Istanbul
The council meeting discussed the upcoming summit of the Heads of State of the Turkic Council.

Turkmen Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov participated in the eighth meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Cooperation Council of Turkic-Speaking States (Turkic Council) in Istanbul on Thursday.

The council meeting discussed the upcoming summit of the Heads of State of the Turkic Council, and the development of a multilateral dialogue using the potential of association of Turkic-speaking states, the Turkmen Foreign Ministry said in its press release.

In his welcoming remarks, Meredov emphasized the importance of supporting Turkmenistan's initiative to become an observer state in the Turkic Council.

The Turkmen Diplomat expressed the expediency of intensifying cooperation of the Turkic Council with major reputable international organizations, especially with the UN, and developing joint multilateral documents aimed at comprehensive strengthening of fruitful partnership.

To this end, close interaction in the economy, industry, energy, transport and ecology was highlighted as one of the strategic tasks in effectively implementing the consolidated potential of the Turkic Council.

The proposal to expand the range of programs and projects carried out within the framework of the International Organization of Turkic Culture (TURKSOY) was also voiced during the meeting.

On the same day, Meredov held talks with Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu. The diplomats discussed the priority areas of bilateral cooperation, and considered key aspects of international agenda.
