Specialists from the International Scientific and Technological Park of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan have developed a technology for producing bitumen emulsion using local raw materials. The project has received a copyright certificate from the State Service for Intellectual Property of the Ministry of Finance and Economy of the country, as reported by the official media of Turkmenistan on Tuesday.
PhD in Technical Sciences M. Hudayberdiyev, head of the laboratory, along with researchers D. Gadamov and A. Pirmedov, conducted a series of experiments during the research, and they published the results in a scientific article.
The team created a bitumen emulsion that consists of 40% bitumen, 48.8% water, 10% solvent, 0.6% hydrochloric acid, and 0.6% emulsifier. This emulsion will help reduce the country's dependence on imported materials and improve the quality of road surfaces in construction.
The technology boasts high efficiency: the emulsion enhances layer adhesion, fills cracks, repairs potholes, and is also used in asphalt concrete production.
Bitumen emulsion combines bitumen, water, and special additives (emulsifiers) for use in road construction and surface repair. Unlike conventional bitumen, which requires heating to high temperatures, bitumen emulsion can be applied in a cold state, making it more convenient and environmentally friendly.
