The Turkmen Delegation led by the Deputy Chairman of the Government, Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov participated in the third meeting of the India-Central Asia Dialogue held in New Delhi on Sunday.
The meeting gathered foreign ministers of India, Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.
The participants highly assessed the role of India-Central Asia Dialogue as an effective platform for strengthening multifaceted cooperation and exchange of views on various regional and international issues of mutual interest. The sides also emphasized that this cooperation format contributes to regional peace, security, stability, sustainable economic growth, as well as prosperity in the region, the foreign policy agency of Turkmenistan reported on its website.
The Turkmen Foreign Minister highlighted the consistent development of interaction between the countries of Central Asia and India in the political-diplomatic, trade-economic, and cultural-humanitarian spheres. He said there is a great potential for cooperation, primarily in such sectors as pharmaceuticals, information technology, agriculture, energy and textile industry.
Exchanging views on the situation in Afghanistan, the foreign ministers reaffirmed their support for the peaceful, safe and stable development of the country while emphasizing the need for respecting sovereignty, unity, territorial integrity and non-interference in its internal affairs.
The second meeting of the India-Central Asia Dialogue was held via video link in October last year.
