Turkmenistan to Sow Vegetables on 106 Thousand Hectares of Land
Orazgeldiyev said 30 thousand hectares of potatoes and 10 thousand hectares of onions are to be sown in February this year.

Deputy Chairman of the Turkmen Cabinet in charge of the agro-industrial complex Esenmyrat Orazgeldiyev during the online meeting on Monday hosted by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov briefed on the plans to sow potatoes and other vegetable and melon crops on 106 thousand hectares of land by 2022.

The meeting was also attended by some vice-premiers and khyakims of Ashgabat and velayats, the country’s official media reports.

The Vice-Premier briefed on the ongoing agricultural activities on preparation of lands to the upcoming spring sowing season, their plowing and leveling as well as bringing the machinery and equipment in proper condition.

Orazgeldiyev said 30 thousand hectares of potatoes and 10 thousand hectares of onions are to be sown in February this year.

In general, 106 thousand hectares are to be sown with potatoes and other melons and vegetables in 2022, including 65 thousand hectares for spring sowing and 41 thousand hectares for sowing in autumn.

Following the briefing, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasized the importance of ensuring the maintenance of all agricultural machinery and equipment at maintenance facilities available in velayats and their effective use during the seasonal campaigns.

The Head of State gave instructions to the relevant state official on providing farmers with the necessary seeds.

The meeting also featured report by governors of all velayats on the progress of measures taken to cultivate land areas, plow and level them, bring agricultural machinery and equipment into proper operating condition, provide tenants-cotton growers with high-yield seeds.
