The Foreign Minister of Afghanistan Amir Khan Muttaqi met with ambassadors and representatives of Central Asia countries on Thursday, the Spokesperson of Afghan Foreign Ministry Abdul Qahar Balkhi announced on Twitter.

“The meeting was attended by Uzbek and Kazakh ambassadors to Kabul as well as representatives from Turkmenistan and Kyrgyzstan,” Balkhi said.

Minister Muttaqi praised relations, trade and economic ties between Afghanistan and Central Asian countries, and stressed that new opportunities should be used for the benefit of the whole region.

The envoys, in turn, emphasized the importance of cooperation and collaboration with Afghanistan in the areas of trade, transit, railways and energy transit.

The sides also exchanged views on specific issues and pledged joint efforts for practical measures to be taken toward a prosperous region, according to the Spokesperson.

Turkmenistan is implementing international infrastructure projects with Afghanistan's participation in energy, transport and communications spheres, including the construction of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline, Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan (TAP) power transmission and fiber-optic communication lines, as well as the building of new railroads.
