Turkmenistan Presents Economic Development at IMF Event in Washington

An event dedicated to Turkmenistan’s economic development in the context of regional and global economic trends was held on May 7, 2026, at the headquarters of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in Washington, D.C.

The event was organized by the Embassy of Turkmenistan in the United States in cooperation with the IMF, with the newly established Turkmen-American Business Cooperation Association (TABCA) acting as an official partner, according to the Embassy of Turkmenistan in the U.S.

More than 80 representatives of international organizations, diplomatic missions, and business circles took part. Participants included Turkmen Ambassador to the United States Esen Aydogdyyev, U.S. Ambassador to Turkmenistan Elizabeth Rood, IMF Executive Director Patrick Loszewski, U.S. Department of Commerce representative Hiro Rodriguez, as well as delegates from the U.S. State Department, the World Bank, the Center for International Private Enterprise (CIPE), and the Turkmen-American Business Council.

Discussions focused on the current state of Turkmenistan’s economy, prospects for expanding trade and investment cooperation between the two countries, and opportunities for strengthening direct ties between private sector representatives from Turkmenistan and the United States.

The agenda also included strengthening practical business cooperation and expanding private sector participation in joint initiatives.

The program featured a cultural exhibition and a presentation of Turkmen national cuisine, introducing participants to the country’s cultural heritage and traditions of hospitality
