Presentation of Arkadag City Takes Place at UNESCO Headquarters
The Turkmen Envoy noted that Arkadag city received a special legal status - a city of national importance.

Ambassador of Turkmenistan to France and Permanent Representative of Turkmenistan to UNESCO Maksat Charyyev met with the UNESCO Assistant Director-General for Africa and External Relations Firmin Edouard Matoko and presented the project of Arkadag city on March 27, the Turkmen Embassy in France reported in its press release for media.    

During the presentation, the Turkmen Envoy noted that Arkadag city received a special legal status - a city of national importance - and was designed to use advanced digital technologies to operate based on the "smart city" concept.

The Ambassador also emphasized that the city is built with modern technologies and environmental requirements and that it is an innovative project with all chances of becoming one of the leaders in urban infrastructure development.

The UNESCO Assistant Director-General for Africa and External Relations praised Turkmenistan's achievements in construction of the new city following the relevant UNESCO mandates, such as the concept of sustainable development and the use of innovative and environmentally friendly technologies.

In addition, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan held a briefing on the importance of Arkadag city’s project and the international directions for its implementation on Tuesday. Representatives from foreign diplomatic missions and international organizations, as well as national and international media, attended the meeting.
