Turkmenbashi International Sea Port has introduced new tariffs to create a logistics centre and cargo base at the port borders, the Türkmendeňizderýaýollary (Turkmen Maritime and River Transport) agency reported on Friday.
According to the message, ships entering and leaving for transit cargo are directly accepted without any queue, and the cargoes are discharged within 24 hours.
Ship docking service will also be provided free of charge between Turkmenbashi International Sea Port terminals.
According to the report, there are emerging opportunities for transporting grain crops from Russia through Turkmenbashi port. At present, the bulk cargo terminal of Turkmenbashi port has 14 silos with a total capacity of 35,000 m3 for storing various grain crops, including wheat, barley and corn. Also, the modern automatic conveyor system installed at this terminal enables the direct unloading of up to 350 tonnes of grain per hour from the ship into wagons, vehicles, and the warehouse, streamlining the entire process.
Currently, negotiations are underway to meet the interests of sending cargoes from Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan to Russia and Europe via Turkmenbashi port.
Turkmenistan accommodates an average of 85,000 Turkish and Iranian cargo vehicles annually, utilizing import and transit routes from Iran to Turkmenistan. In the meantime, there are plans to establish feeder communication connecting Turkmenbashi International Sea Port with Iranian ports.
