Wholesale markets in Tajikistan currently witness the absolute dominance of imported greenhouse tomatoes from Turkmenistan, reported the EastFruit platform on Tuesday.
According to the publication, Turkmen tomatoes have become a more preferable choice for consumers in the Tajikistan market, reducing demand for greenhouse products of Uzbek origin.
In January-March of the current year, the volume of tomato exports grown in Turkmenistan increased by 3 percent compared to the same period last year.
As of today, the total area of greenhouses in Turkmenistan is about 800 hectares, with the majority, that is, 95 percent, specializing in tomato production.
