Today, President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, met with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz during his working visit to the Republic of Kazakhstan. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the second high-level meeting in the "Central Asia-Germany" format in Astana.
Warmly greeting each other, both leaders expressed satisfaction with the opportunity to personally discuss key issues concerning the constructive interstate cooperation that has successfully developed over the years based on mutual trust and respect.
President Serdar Berdimuhamedov conveyed greetings from the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty, Hero-Arkadag, who laid the foundations for constructive Turkmen-German relations. He expressed confidence that this first bilateral meeting with Chancellor Scholz during the "Central Asia-Germany" dialogue would further strengthen the ties between the two nations.
Chancellor Scholz, in return, sent his greetings and best wishes to the National Leader of the Turkmen people, acknowledging his significant personal contribution to the development of Turkmen-German relations. He emphasized Germany's keen interest in deepening its productive partnership with Turkmenistan, a country that has earned high international respect and recognition through its wise and forward-thinking policies and progressive initiatives aimed at global peace, security, and sustainable development.
President Berdimuhamedov highlighted the importance of Turkmenistan’s relations with Germany, noting the long-term, systematic development of these ties, which rest on a solid legal foundation with over 90 different agreements and treaties in place.
He also emphasized the importance of the regular economic days, business forums, and exhibitions held between the two countries, underscoring the significant role of the Joint Turkmen-German Working Group and the German Committee on Eastern European Economic Relations, both of which contribute greatly to the consistent development of bilateral cooperation.
