Turkmenistan Advocates For Expanding Energy Supply Deliveries

In the energy sector, Turkmenistan supports expanding the volume and geographical reach of energy supply deliveries both within the CIS and beyond. This includes the supply of raw materials as well as electricity, stated President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov at the Council of Heads of State of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) meeting in Moscow on Tuesday, according to official Turkmen media.

During the event, the head of state also emphasized the importance of creating conditions for the development of a green economy and forming clusters based on low-carbon energy. Serdar Berdimuhamedov pointed out that while this goal is long-term, it already requires action, utilizing the scientific and technical potential of CIS countries and enhancing joint research and cooperation.

Additionally, the Turkmen leader highlighted the importance of CIS countries’ participation in the North-South transport corridor project along the eastern coast of the Caspian Sea, with access to Iran and the Indian Ocean. He proposed to discuss the establishment of unified tariffs, customs, and visa preferences for participating countries.

Turkmenistan reaffirmed its commitment to developing cooperation within the CIS based on principles of equality and mutual respect, expressing gratitude to Russia for its effective leadership.

The CIS meeting in Moscow was attended by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan, President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov, President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, and President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
