Kazakhstan is discussing the possibility of participating in the construction of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline.
As reported by Interfax-Kazakhstan on Tuesday, Vice Minister of Energy Yerlan Akkenshanov made this statement at the Kazakhstan-Afghanistan business forum in Almaty.
"We are interested in developing transport potential for the export and transit of hydrocarbons, and TAPI is a prime example of such a project," Akkenshanov said.
According to the report, negotiations are currently underway with the Turkmen side regarding Kazakhstan's potential involvement in the construction.
Recently, during President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev's visit to Turkmenistan, the national company QazaqGaz signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the State Concern Türkmengaz in the gas sector.
